Mariel Hautoux, Art designer.

Mariel was born in the South of France to a French mother and a Cameroonian father. She gave up on a career in advertising in Paris with BBDP and Young & Rubicam and instead went to Barcelona to train in different tile work inspired by the Gaudi School. She then spent a year travelling, discovering new material and different products in order to further her professional goals (hello vie artistique!) before setting up in Florida in 1995
In 1998 she moved to Palm Beach and founded her mosaic workshop: Studio of Creation. She then moved to the Little River area in Miami and began doing commissions, one of which was a mosaic mural in collaboration with the great Haitian artist Edouard Duval-Carrie. Her reputation then skyrocketed and led to a project with notable French architect Jacques Garcia to create the magnificent mosaic-tiled swimming pool for the Victor Hotel FL. Afterwards, another project came along with Marcel Wanders in the form of the façade of the Mondrian Hotel FL. She has grown to be the Mosaic industrial Designer she is today, offering a full catalogue of artisanal quality products to the luxury market worldwide. In 2008, after 15 years in the United States, she decided to return to her native region in the South of France where she continues to practice her savoir-faire nowadays for private clients, in connection with architects, decorators and swimming-pool builders, as well as for personal pieces she can then expose. "This time", she says, "I feel ready for the European markets, and I will promote both my personal creations and my expertise to the public". Her return back into her lands with an important historic past also allow her to approach a new feature to her job: that of creating Art for Hotels and the renovation of old mansions or castles... "I strive to always respect the era's style, albeit with a touch of modernity included"
